Don Alonso, known as the Knight of Olmedo, attends the famous Medina fair, where he meets Doña Inés, with whom he becomes deeply smitten. His servant Tello turns to Fabia, a procuress, to intercede with the lady. Doña Inés reciprocates Alonso's love, but Don Rodrigo, another knight who also courts her, fuels furious jealousy. The tension grows when Alonso stands out at the fair for his courage and bullfighting skill, increasing his rival's envy. As the festivities conclude, the knight sets out on the road back to Olmedo, ignoring warnings of an attempt on his life. Along the way, Don Rodrigo and his men ambush him and kill him.
