Through anecdotes and picturesque lore, José Luis Melero invites the reader to discover a fascinating and unconventional literary universe, where life and writing intertwine beyond the predictable.

What is it about?

The book delves into the backroads of literary history to recover forgotten writers and characters. Throughout its pages, the reader will find profiles of unclassifiable authors such as Camilo Bargiela or Luys Santa Marina, touching stories of figures like General Burguete or the cabaret star Carmen de Lirio, and the appeal of personalities such as the republican José Nakens or the surrealist painter Urbano Lugrís. Melero also invites readers to rediscover nearly ignored books by Fernando García Mercadal or Margarita de Foxá, and shares little-known anecdotes about established authors such as Azorín, Manuel Machado, or Santiago Ramón y Cajal. It is a journey where literature beats strongly on the margins.

Main Themes

Recovery of authors and works forgotten by the literary canon.

Anecdotes and curiosities from literary history.

Eccentric figures and unique characters from the cultural sphere.

Backroad literature and picturesque lore.

The connection between personal life and literary creation.

Who is it recommended for?

This book is aimed at readers passionate about literature who seek to go beyond the usual names.
