This complete edition gathers all the adventures of Aleksis Strogonov for the first time, allowing readers to discover one of the great unknown works of European comics.

What is it about?

Aleksis Strogonov is a character swept up by the great historical events of the 20th century, from the 1917 Russian Revolution to the Germany of the twenties and the ethnic conflicts in the Balkans. Far from being a conventional historical account, the work uses dark humor and satire to address these dramatic episodes, showing how absurdity and chance shape the protagonist's destiny. Each chapter is a self-contained adventure that, together, builds a lucid and amusing critique of the violence and irrationality of history.

Main themes

Dark humor applied to the critique of history and politics.

Satire on the major conflicts of the 20th century: the Russian Revolution, German fascism, and the Balkan wars.

The figure of the antihero swept up by historical circumstances.

The absurdity of violence and nationalism.

Episodic narrative as a way to explore different historical moments.

Who is it recommended for?

This book is aimed at adult comic readers who appreciate intelligent humor, political satire, and a critical revision of history.
